Real Talkies

Every cut is a lie. It’s never that way. Those two shots were never next to each other in time that way. But you’re telling a lie in order to tell the truth. –Wolf Koenig.

Real Talkies has a new blog feature, “BEING MADE”.

“BEING MADE” showcases one documentary, that is in research/production/postproduction phase,  on the 15th of every month. Documentary filmmaker’s are invited to write to or leave a comment on the blog with the following:

1) Short synopsis of the film.

2) What stage is your project in?

3) Your creative wish

4) Location of your project (geographical)

Real Talkies with its viewers, will try hard to make every effort to find partners to help fulfill the ‘creative wish’ that will get them one step closer to the final project.

Real Talkies chose an exciting film project  but the filmmaker is restructuring the story  and it sounds even more fabulous with the new changes. But, they will need more time. Therefore, this week we will feature a documentary in progress that I am looking forward to seeing.

There are serious wars, violent conflicts, incurable diseases, catastrophic natural disasters and preventable man made disasters affecting mankind all over the world. Human suffering and needs are vast but hunger is the most basic human need and we all identify with it. We all have experienced it and understand it. Hunger in America is like an invisible and unacknowledged disease in America.

Filmmakers Lori Silverbush and Kristi Jacobson are currently in production a film called, HUNGRY in AMERICA” exploring why so many people in this country go without food and what can be done bout it. The film is co-produced by Silverbush’s husband, “Top Chef” judge Tom Colicchio, along with culinary superstate, Mario Batali. The film explores the food stamp program, school lunches and other critical issues regarding the state of the country’s food delivery system.  Film is expected to be released in early 2011 and is partnered with FEED Foundation.

Hunger Report 2010, the largest study of domestic hunger reports that hunger in increasing at an alarming rate in the United States.

  • Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity feeds more than 37 million low-income people including 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.
  • 76 percent of the Feeding America’s clients are food insecure, meaning they do not know where they will find their next meal.
  • Nearly 50% of Feeding America’s clients choose between paying for utilities or heating fuel and food.

Please share the film’s website and trailer with friends and family and do what you can to help alleviate hunger.
